Hello AMI Family! It is with great privilege that I get to write this email to you. We appreciate all your prayers very much and are praying for you all as well. We have been having a great time with Pastor Willer and la Iglesia Tabernaculo. The services and translations have been going well, and we have been so blessed by the faith and love of our fellow brothers and sisters here in Peru.
A few ministry updates, (in addition to the regular house visits, small groups, and midweek services) that have been happening the the last few days-
Six people got baptized this past Sunday by Pastor Willer. Praise the Lord! It was such a wonderful opportunity to witness and be a part of. We went to Lake Ucayalli, where about 50 people of the congregation watched. Each candidate gave a short testimony and declared their life to Christ before Pastor Willer, Pastor Andy and Pastor Nate submerged them into the lake.
On Saturday, we held a Vacation Bible School at a local school (Escuela 64093). We expected 60-200 children, but God was faithful and brought 210 children! It was a blessed time of fellowship, games, crafts, gospel puppet presentation and worship. Many of the children were not members of Iglesia Taburnaculo, yet were incredibly attentive during the gospel presentation and were excited to participate in worship. Everything went very smoothly, and our team was very flexible and showed a lot of unity. Praise God. We will be teaching another VBS this coming Saturday, so please be in prayer for our preparations and that God brings many more children.
Yesterday, the Jovenes put on a Sports Day for us. We played about 7 different games and at the end had a U.S vs. Peru Soccer tournament... we let them win....
Overall, we were so encouraged by everyones sportsmanship and had a great time of fellowship with the Jovenes. The losers had about 50 water balloons thrown at them, but they shall remain nameless at this time.
The most amazing news is the fruit we saw last night. Pastor Andy preached on Psalm 103 and at the altar call, two people came forward to accept Christ as Lord and Savior, as well as 5 people reconciling their relationship to Him. GLORIA A DIOS. He is definitely moving here in Pulcallpa, and we are incredibly blessed to be His humble servants here.
Please continue to pray for us. We are seeing God do a lot and know that He loves His people. The team is doing well. I am blessed by their attitude and their desire to love the people, especially through prayer.
We leave for Kilometer 83 and 64 tomorrow, which are two villages that are a days travel away. They are two church plants of Pastor Willer and we will be there to encourage their church. We will be spending about 2-3 days there. Please pray for traveling mercies, spiritual and physical protection and safety, and most of all that God would prepare the hearts of the people we meet, and open opportunities to minister mightily in His name. We are excited and anxious to go tomorrow, again, please lift us up in prayer.
Please enjoy the picture of our team with the Jovenes inside Iglesia Taburnaculo!
Gloria a Dios,
Jessica Lee
